Acupressure
-- a medicine without drug.

Acupressure is a treatment
therapy of various diseases of the body carried out by applying required amount of
pressure to specific point of the body. Human body has numbers of Acupressure meridian
points where vital energy flows. By stimulating these Acupressure points, we relieve body
pain and spasm by releasing of natural pain killer endrophine through sensory receptors
lying deep in the muscle. Acupressure helps to improve immune system of the body. |
Acupressure is comprised of Latin word Acus-- means pin pointing or needle and Pressure -- means thrust or
applies force to specific point of the body. The human body possesses self curative forces
to fight diseases and the role of Acupressure is to assist the body restore the balance
and to strengthen the inbuilt defence mechanism. Human body has numbers of Acupressure
points. When we stimulate these Acupressure points, we bring about the relief to the
person. The pressure can be applied by hands or by electric vibrator. While heating is
done on some Acupressure points by burning a kind of herb Artemisia Vulgaris and the
technique is called Moxibustion.
Acupuncture is also a very old therapy and was developed, practiced in
China. It has also same fundamentals and principles as Acupressure, except needling. In
Acupressure body point is stimulated by pressure, where as in Acupuncture needles are used
to stimulate. In comparison with Acupuncture, Acupressure is more safer.
Samvedna (Acupressure) is an ancient Indian art of
healing. As earlier as 5000 years ago Great Indian Rishies have discovered Yoga Posturing
Technique that uses full-body postures to stretch the meridians and stimulate the
Acupressure points on our own. By the time when Buddhism was spread upto China from India
this technique of Acupressure was also been spread by Buddhist Monks. From then
Acupressure have been developed by Chinese peoples. In these recent years Acupressure has
gained wide acceptance all over the world as an alternative medicinal treatment therapy.
In many parts of world one can find methods of stimulating the body points with hand, and
one of these is called Shietsu, a Japanese system of giving pressure and
massage.
